The U.S. Department of Education has released a total of $635,441, including $132,554 to Southern Utah State College, in awards to post-secondary schools for Upward Bound Programs, according to Utah Sens. Jake Garn and Orrin Hatch. The grant, awarded to five Utah colleges, including in-cluding SUSC, supports the budget period beginning June 1 and ending May 31, 1981. The Upward Bound Program aims at the "skill and motivation necessary for success in education beyond high school among young people from low income families, and inadequate 'secondary school " preparation," according to information from ED.
