Show Just Between You And Me O'y- "Red" Wilson Family Days are shaping up great! Milford doesn't have a big annual blast as most communities, but when they do put on a show, It's a good one. One new Item that's been added to the agenda is a spike driving contest. Gandy Dancers from all over are being Invited and it should be fun. There will be a machine demonstrated to show how it's done today, ft With most everyone in town involved with' at least one float, the parade should be a good one. Mary Wiseman Wise-man has put a lot of effort in getting people Involved, so don't miss it. The barbeque Is a favorite, and of course, everyone Is looking forward to the passenger pas-senger train rides. Tickets for the ride are free by calling 387-2836. Just tell them when you want to ride. There are two big days and you won't want to miss a second, so plan Friday and Saturday, to come to Milford Mil-ford and help celebrate 100 years of Railroading. - 0 - Of course the parade and Fourth festivities in miners -ville were superb once again. There was an excellent crowd, and everyone had a good time. Fireworks like everything every-thing else have become quite expensive. The Jr.OldTim-ers Jr.OldTim-ers footed the bill and the Fire Department helped set them off. It was one of the best displays we've seen in Milford. The JOT is already al-ready working to raise money for next years fireworks fire-works display, so give them your support on their projects. pro-jects. o Both the House and Senate have approved $1.6 billion for MX development. The Senate version allows only half of the system to be built in Utah and Nevada until split basing is analyzed. A compromise bill will . be worked out jointly, and voted on later this year. It seems quite certain that Utah and Nevada will get at least half of the MX system, and few in the Congress or Senate give split basing much chance. - 0 -There is plenty of MX activity in Pine Valley. A drill rig is drilling for water on the Desert Range Experiment Ex-periment Station Road, and there are surveyors and others crawling all over the area. A recent poll in Nevada conducted by UNLV indicat- The national political conventions. con-ventions. The Republican convention is next week, and seems pretty cut and dried, but anything can happen. The Democratic convention will follow shortly after, and they historically put on a better show, though often not one party leaders like. We've got a hunch that thp-ewillbe a few surprises this year. You might say that all the garbage in Detroit next week, won't be in the streets. Actually, we get pretty disgusted with the political rhetoric at political conventions. conven-tions. We took advantage of the ; time to explore Lehman Cave once again. For those of you who haven't done much spelunking, Lehman Cave is one of the nicest in the world. This year it is especially beautiful because of the abnormal ab-normal amount of water in . the cave. It's well worth the drive, and should be a must for guests who are . visiting. 0 -We stopped to see Fred and Roberta Conde, at Garrison. Gar-rison. Roberta has been a correspondent for the NEWS for several years. They told us about the Snake Valley Swap Meet coming up July 26th for you bargain hunters. hunt-ers.
