Show ' WHEELCHAIR DOES NT STOP HUNTER Chuck Baker of Enoch is making a science out of hunting and his efforts paid off for him in his first outing with a bow and arrow. This year, he bagged a nice four point buck in the Beaver Mountains. But his success didn't start there. It started in 1974 when he first began to hunt in Utah, during the regular reg-ular deer season. He has bagied his buck every year since that time and in addition ad-dition was successful both in 1977 and 1978 in the Elk hunt. So what? Yon sav . . . What makes Chuck's suc- cess so unusual is that he is confined to a wheelchair. Baker bagged his buck on the opening day of the bow and arrow hunt after patiently patient-ly waiting for 13 hours in a blind. He downed the buck from approximately 30 yards at about 6:30 in the evening. "It was no accident" he said. "I had been scouting the areas for two weeks prior to the hunt and had already picked my spot. I had deer, fawns and does walking within ten feet of me during the day but it was not till evening that I had my chance with this buck." He attributes much of his success to "K.C. the Mountain Moun-tain Man" who has been hunting on the BeaverMoun-tain BeaverMoun-tain for the past 20 years. He also expressed his thanks to Brent Farnsworth of the Utah Wildlife Resources and Dennis Cox, Chief of Police of Milford, for their help. What's next for Chuck? Well there is the general hunt and elk hunt still coming and he is anxious to participate parti-cipate in these events this fall. |
