Show The formulation will contain con-tain seven micrograms of each antigen per 0.5 ml. dose and will be available in whole virus and split virus preparations. Either of these is recommended for persons age 13 and older. The split virus vaccine is recommended for persons under age 13 because it produces pro-duces fewer side effects in children. Persons under age 27 will need two doses, four or more weeks apart, persons per-sons over 27 will require one dose. Influenza vaccine for 1979-80 will consist of inactivated in-activated trivalent preparations prepar-ations of ABrazil78; A Texas77; and BHong Kong 72 virus antigens. Annual vaccination is advised ad-vised for persons with increased in-creased risk of complications compli-cations from lower respiratory respi-ratory tract infections. Included In-cluded in this category are: 1. Persons age 65 and older. 2. Acquired or congenital heart disease associated with altered circulatory dynamics. dy-namics. 3. Any chronic disorder with compromised pulmonary pulmon-ary function. 4. Chronic renal disease with azotemia or the nephrotic neph-rotic syndrome. 5. Diabetes or other metabolic meta-bolic diseases with increased in-creased susceptibility to infection. in-fection. 6. Chronic severe anemia such as sickle cell disease. 7. Conditions which com -promise the immune mechanism, mech-anism, including certain malignancies. |
