The simplification and clarification procedures extend ex-tend the filing deadline from October 21 to 4 p.m. on Octo- ber 22, at the BLM State Office in Salt Lake City, said Paul L. Howard, BLM director di-rector for Utah. October 21 is a Sunday, so extending the deadline to October 22 really gives miners three extra days to prepare their claim, explained Howard. Miners must file with the bureau specific documents as mandated by the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA) or lose their claim, added Howard. The procedures also define de-fine requirements for filing as any documents that are, or have been, accepted by county governments. Of course, a legal description also is required. It should be noted, that the date of location is the date printed on the certificate of recordation, not the recordingdate, if they differ. All claims located before October 21, 1976 must be filed by the October 22 deadline. dead-line. Those located after October 21, 1976 must be filed within 90 days. |
