Coach Lynn Parsons and crew fell 21 points behind in the first half against South Sevier, but the 15 minute intermission gave them a chance to re -group, both offensively of-fensively and defensively. The Rams only managed to find two points the entire third period, while the Bea vers rallied under the shooting shoot-ing of Scott Williams, Chad Dalton, Mike Smith, and Kelly Smith, scoring 20 points. The third quarter ended with South Sevier nursing a three point lead, 40-37. The fourth period was pressure packed with the Beavers making several bids to take the lead, but couldn't quite come up with the key play. The Rams finally stretch ed their lead to eight points before the final buzzer to capture their second victory over Beaver CountySchools. The following night the Beaver boys had little trouble handing Bryce Valley Val-ley a 67-49 defeat. Coach Parsons received consistent scoring from all twelve of his players, with Mike Smith and Scott Williams Wil-liams leading the pack with 23 points combined. The Beavers jumped to a 14-8 first quarter lead, using ' a tenacious defense and a scrappy fast break. The second quarter was more of the same, as Mike Smith, Kelly Smith, andSheb Yardley kept the nets burning, burn-ing, grabbing a 16 point lead at halftime, 36-20. The Mustangs managed to keep up with the Beavers in the third period, scoring 11 points to Beaver's 12, but the fourth period Ricky Carter and Shane Blackner swished the nets while Bruce Carter and Mike Smith applied a very stiff defense on the guard line. League play begins tomorrow to-morrow night with Beaver hosting Parowan. Early predictions and per- formances indicates a rough, competitive Region 8 schedule.. sched-ule.. The ever present home court advantage should take precedence this year. |
