Show Beaver Stake women to hear LDS broadcast President Spencer W. Kimball and three present and past general leaders of Church auxiliaries will be the speakers at a special conference for all women of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Saturday, Satur-day, September 16, intheSalt Lake Mormon Tabernacle. It will be the first meeting meet-ing of its kind for the women of the Church, including young girls 12 years of age and older. old-er. The men and boys of the Church have a similar gathering twice a year during dur-ing general conferences. The meeting, which will convene at 7:00 p.m. will be beamed live via closed - circuit audio facilities to more than 1,400 gatherings of Latter-day Saint women in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Translations of President Kimball's message will be recorded and sent in the appropriate ap-propriate language to each congregation in the world which does not receive the live telecast. The meeting will be under the direction of the First Presidency, with President N. Eldon Tanner, first counselor, coun-selor, conducting. Speakers joining President Kimball on the program are Barbara B. Smith, general president of the Relief Society, and Ruth H. Funk, immediate past general president of the Young Women. President Ezra Taft Benson Ben-son of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will offer the invocation and President Marion G. Romney, second counselor in the First Presidency Pres-idency will pronounce the benediction. Music for the conference will be provided by a chorus of 400 young women, 14 to 18 years of age, from the Bountiful, Boun-tiful, Woods Cross, Center-ville Center-ville and Kaysville regions of the Church. The chorus will be directed by LaVonne Van Orden. Beverly Decker Adams will accompany on the Tabernacle organ. The Beaver Utah Stake Broadcast will be heard at the Beaver 3rd -4th Ward Chapel beginningat 7:00p.m. on Saturday, September 16. The Young Women and the Relief Society would like to invite all women from age 12 and up to join us in this Special Conference. |
