Show Mi ("braille tews fa non-bapo M, 1 -7 "When you have a 6'3" 197 pound quarterback following fol-lowing a 220 pound guard it's rather difficult to stop a run," said Beaver defensive defen-sive lineman, Shep Yardley. In spite of Beavers 352 yard output compared to Le- hi's 230 yards, Chris Gey-erman Gey-erman managed to pull out a 13-7 victory over a mistake mis-take and penalty riddled Beaver Bea-ver team. Geyerman picked his way through the Beaver defense eating up the 1st quarter and scoring one touchdown. Beaver had the ball for one offensive play the entire 1st quarter, but Kelly Smith darted for 67 yards and Beavers Bea-vers only touchdown. Dalton kicked the PAT and the score was tied for most of the game, until late in the 3rd period when Geyerman broke tackles for 33 yards, bursting burst-ing to the Beaver 44 yard line. The Beaver defense held for three plays allowing only 2 yards from the purple crew but an offsides penalty moved mov-ed the ball to the one yard line and gave Jeff Jones the opportunity to score on the next play. Craig Blackner blocked the PAT and the score board was fixed at 13-7 for the remainder re-mainder of the game. Bruce Carter and Kelly Smith combined for 235 yards on the ground, but ev-erytime ev-erytime an offensive surge came about, the yellow flag erased the momentum. Coach Al Marshall said, "Maybe the kids will come back down to earth and play ball." Of course, they must . play ball to knock off Kanab tomorrow night in Cowboy Country. Beaver hasn't defeated de-feated Kanab at Kanab since 1973, so the pressure is on both teams. |
