Jones dumped 26, Mayer 14, Kirk 16, and they had 13-11-11 rebounds respectively re-spectively In the 70-51 win. Parsons had 14 and Devin-cenzi Devin-cenzi 12 for South Sevier. Quarter scores were 19-9, 19-9, Milford; 24-26; 53-36, and 70-51. The Beavers traveled to Wayne for their opener and won 56-50. This week the Tigers will travel to Manti on Friday and host Tintic on Saturday. Beaver played at Esca-lante Esca-lante last night and goes to South Sevier on Saturday. They won't play before home fans until Dec. 16 against Gunnison. Every one of Milford's starters hit the bench early on fouls, but the Rabbits still couldn't put it away, even though they led from the starting buzzer. In fact, the subs hung In real good and closed to two points with six seconds to go when the Tigers drew another an-other foul and Roger Ashby dumped two more foul shots to give Delta their 59-55 win. The Tigers got into foul trouble right from the start as Coach Hillock sent Mayer, May-er, Kirk and Jones against Delta's Richard Pederson, 6 '4"; Craig Jones, 6'5";and Jim Louder, 6'2". The shorter short-er Milford cagers were getting get-ting lots of arms. Kim Williams Wil-liams also got into early foul trouble and everybody had at least two before the quarter. Add to that Delta's aggressive ag-gressive defense and two many turnovers, Jones shut off inside and Kirk andMay- er both cold from the outside, out-side, and you wonder how they managed to stay in the game. But they were only down 10-17 at the quarter, and it was 20-29 at the half. About halfway through the second quarter, Hillock sent in 6'5" Mark Whitney (where had he been hiding?) and the Tigers began to work. By then all the starters were in bad foul trouble. In the third period the Tigers tied the score twice, '33-33 and 43-43, but Mayer, Jones and Myers all picked up their fourth foul. Williams, already on the bench with four, came back in when Mayer picked up number five late in the third. Then Steve Moody, who had been in for seconds, replaced replac-ed Jones with his fifth. Myers My-ers followed and in come Puffer, finally Kirk and Williams Wil-liams drew their last and were replaced by Hardy and Sherwood. The Tigers had nearly as many fouls as points. Mel Dutson led all scorers scor-ers with 19 points for the Rabbits and Roger Ashby had 16. Jones had 13 for Milford, Mil-ford, Kirk 12, andMyers 10. |
