Show Admiral Samuel L. Gravely, Jr., USN, the commander of the U. S. Third Fleet. A 1976 graduate of Beaver Bea-ver High School, Wight joined join-ed the Navy in September, 1976. WIGHT TAKES PART IN NAVY VARSITY SPRINT Navy Seaman Recruit Julius Ju-lius D. Wight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl O. Wight of Beaver, Utah, is participating participat-ing in Exercise "Varsity Sprint" off the Southern California Cal-ifornia coast. He is serving as a crew-member crew-member aboard the oiler USS Hassayampa, home-ported home-ported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Ha-waii. He is one of more than 13,000 men taking part in the 13 -day exercise, which includes 25 ships and 200 aircraft. "Varsity Sprint" is designed to test and evaluate eval-uate all phases of naval operations, op-erations, including air, antisubmarine anti-submarine and surface warfare; war-fare; replenishment at sea and weapons firing. The exercise ex-ercise is one of a series of Third Fleet exercises conducted con-ducted to refine fleet tactics and provide continuous training train-ing of combat ready naval forces.
