UP&L and Geothermal Kinetics have interest in the Lund-Beryl properties, near Brigham City where they drilled a well in 1974 to 11005 feet, that is not considered con-sidered commercial, and property in Idaho. Bids on nearly 40,000 acres at Crater Springs, Lund, Monroe -Joseph and Thermo will be opened at Salt Lake City BLM offices next Tuesday, Feb. 3, for known geothermal resource land. Previous bids have gone for as high as $363.00 per acre to as low as $1.00 per acre. The Loffland rig, which has been drilling for Phillips Phil-lips Petroleum in the Roosevelt Roose-velt Springs KGRA, has been idle for two weeks because of lack of permits fromU.S.CS. Utah Steam Venture, the joint geothermal exploration company of Utah Power and Light and Geothermal Kinetics, Kin-etics, has signed a contract with McCulloch Oil Co. to drill two geothermalexplor-ation geothermalexplor-ation wells on private land near Beryl Junction and Lund, according to Val Fin -layson of Utah Power and Light, executive in charge of exploration. Mr. Finlayson said Tuesday Tues-day that the first site at Beryl was presently being prepared and Geothermal Drilling Corp., a wholly-owned wholly-owned subsidiary of Geothermal Geo-thermal Kinetics, is expected expect-ed to have their rig set up and start drilling next week. All the geophysical work has been done by Group 7, also a subsidiary of Geothermal Geo-thermal Kinetics, under the direction of Dr. George Keller, Kel-ler, Chairman of the Dept. of Geology and Physical Sciences at the Colorado School of Mines. The leases are on private property Finlayson said.
