Salt Lake City, Utah has been selected as the site of a two -day circuit convention of Jehovah's Witnesses to be held October 25, 26 at the Highland High School. The convention, unlike the one held in Salt Lake City two summers ago with an attendance of some 14,000 delegates, has been scheduled sched-uled to accommodate congregations con-gregations of Jehovah's Witnesses Wit-nesses from the greater Salt Lake City area and surrounding sur-rounding cities within a 300 mile radius. At a time when many religious re-ligious groups are losing members, the Witnesses are registering phenomenal increases. in-creases. During the period from Sept. 1972 to Sept. 1973, 193,990 were baptized in 208 lands worldwide. During the same period in 1973-74, 269,000 were baptized with some reports to be tabulated from countries where the group works underground. Mr. Robert Perrin was quick to add that these members mem-bers are people who have spent months and years in study of the Bible and not ones who, emotionally moved at the time, decided to be baptized. "The figures that we publish," pub-lish," stated Perrin, "represent "rep-resent only active members who take part in preaching God's Word to others." In addition to having a baptismal service, the program pro-gram in Salt Lake will include in-clude Bible talks and demonstrations dem-onstrations designed to show the practical value of the Bible in dealing with many difficult problems and questions ques-tions faced by Christians today.
