Show 4-PAGE ARTICLE IN EMJ TELLS ALUNITE STORY Beaver County's alunite deposits, along with the joint venture by Earth Sciences, Inc., National Steel Corp. and Southwire Co., drewnational attention with a four -page story in the August issue of Engineering and Mining Journal. The story details the process pro-cess developed by E.S.I, and the pilot plant in Golden, Colo. Also outlined are the mine, mill and fertilizer operations opera-tions planned in Beaver County. The story says E.S.I, has drill proved 100 million tons of alunite ore, with exploration ex-ploration showing ore over 25 sq. miles. Total resources resourc-es are estimated at 680 million mil-lion tons, with the Inference that there is much more. The Wah Wah plant is now being planned at a capacity of 500,000 tpy of alumina. Construction of the plant is planned to begin in mid-1975. mid-1975. Cost estimates for the alumina alu-mina plant are slightly over $100 million, with the additional addi-tional fertilizer plants as much as $100 million.
