Show MAYOR MAYER APPOINTED TO STATE AGENCY Mayor Eugene H. Mayer of Milford is one of four .new members of the State Law Enforcement En-forcement Planning Council who were appointed by Gov. Calvin L. Rampton recently. Other new members of the Council are Police Chief J. Earl Jones, Salt Lake City; Burton L. Carlson, new state planning coordinator; and Mrs. Judith Williams a Salt Lake house-wiij. house-wiij. Gov. Rampton stated the duties du-ties of the council are established estab-lished as follows: To develop a comprehensive comprehen-sive statewide plan for the prevention pre-vention of juvenile and adult crime, the improvement of law enforcement and the rehabilitation rehabilita-tion of offenders. To coordinate programs and projects for state and local governments for improvement in law enforcement. To evaluate state and local applications for funding of projects pro-jects for improvement of the justice system. To apply for and accept grants from the Law Enforcement Enforce-ment Assistance Administration, U.S. Dept. of Health. Education and Welfare and other government govern-ment or private agencies, and to approve expenditure and disbursement dis-bursement of such funds. The agency has come under attack recently from Don Cav-alli, Cav-alli, director of Region 1 and 2 of the Law Enforcement Advisory Advis-ory Council, who charged that political maneuvering is changing chang-ing the State Agency into a Salt Lake City-County program. He indicated that the agency is stacked with Salt Lake people peo-ple and policies have been adopted favoring the Salt Lake area for funds. Mayor Mayer is the only member from Southern Sou-thern Utah. |
