Show Commissioners Hire New Deputy; Adopt Budget where preparation of tax statements state-ments and mailing does not amount to more than the tax involved. County Attorney John Chris-tensen Chris-tensen reported that the tractor, trac-tor, belly dump and lciwboy which have been tied up in litigation were now free and clear and could be sold. The commission did not put them up for sale at this time. Architect John Rowley and Jack Sawyer from a state funding fund-ing agency met with the Commission Com-mission to complete application for funds to build the jail. They set the bid opening for the new jail for February 7, 1972. John White reported he was unable to finish cleaning the court house a.nd the Commissioners Commis-sioners approved $225 for thej work he had done. The County Commissioners hired a .new deputy sheriff for Minersville at their monthly meeting Dec. 6th. Fred Harris made the motion to hire Gary Lynn Cartwright as soon as he is approved by the Dept. of Employment Security Se-curity under the rules of the Emergency Employment Act. He will replace Deputy Carter Car-ter who has been serving in the post at Minersville. No actio.n was taken at this time to hire a man for garbage and weed control. The Commissioners adopted a budget of $174,000 for 1972 after decreasing the Stale Forestry For-estry and Fire Control portion from $3,900 to $2,000 which will be distributed as in the past, $800 to Milford and Beaver cities and $400 to Minersville for fire control. They decreased the welfare budget by $2,000 from $9,500 before adoption. After discussion with the County Assessor the commission set a minimum on all real estate es-tate in Beaver County at $40 tax value. This brings the min-mum min-mum valuation up to the point |
