State Hopes Crumble At Hurricane In Kanab Win By Mike Walker The Milford High School Fooball team playing their last home game away from home at Hurricane Monday afterncon, lost to Kanab 46-20. Milford playing with a guard at fullback and with a sub at one of the backs, played a strong game. Kanab didn't play that much better than the Tigers, as they were plagued by fumbles and pass interceptions intercep-tions and a blocked punt. This was to be expected with new men handling the ball. Milford won the toss and received. They fumbled on the first play from scrimmage and Kanab, after two first downs, the second on the Milford five yard line, was able to plunge into the end zone on third and one. the kick for extra point was good and Kanab led 7-0. Milford received again and Edwards ran the kick back to the 35 yard line and on the first play from scrimmage Smith ran up the middle for 12 yards. After a motion penalty pen-alty and a couple of three yard gains, Milford tried to punt and it was blocked. Kanab picked up the loose ball and ran for a score. They missed the extra point but, the score was 13-0. Milford received again and after an exchange of fumbles. Kanab ended up with the ball on their own 32 yard line. A pass play took them to the Milford 13 yard line and three plays later Kanab was in the end zone. Bailey blocked the kick for extra point and Kanab led 19-0. Again the Tigers received and Yardley ran the kick back to his own 42. Kanab recovered recover-ed a Milford fumble and ran 67 yards for a TD, the kick was good and Kanab led 26-0, After the kick Milford was forced to punt. The punt was fumbled by Ramsey on his own 18 and recovered by Hanley. A fifteen yard penalty put the ball on the Kanab 10 yard ne. After two tries up the middle by Barnes and Yardley the Tigers had the ball on the five yard line. Edwards passed to Elmer for a TD and Win.n for the two point conversion and the Tigers were on the scoreboard. score-board. 26-8. Finally it was Kanab receiving, re-ceiving, but Milford intercept-a intercept-a pass on the Kanab 33 yard lire and then a pass to Winn was good for a TD. but it was called back and Milford penalized. penal-ized. One of the boys didn't have his mouth piece on, then another 15 yard penalty was tacked on to that for unsportsmanlike unsports-manlike condu-t. After the ball had exchanged hands on downs twice, Edwards hit Smith with a long pass and he rnn or to the 6 yard line. Milford played well and never nev-er lost their poise. Richard Smith played a real good game making some good runs and catching passes well. He also did the kicking and will be one of the main stays in the back-field back-field next year. All of the Milford Mil-ford line played well, blocking block-ing one punt.
