Show Well we hate to say we told you! But take a good hard look did your vote really count or was the election settled on October 14 at the Democratic Demo-cratic convention. We say of course, that you didn't have a chance you lost your vote because there was one ticket. The argument of course presented by the Democrats is that nobody stopped stop-ped someone else from presenting pre-senting another ticket aad technically this is true. But when the population of a particular par-ticular voting area is made up of ninty-five percent, one party par-ty (makes no difference which ciel it is difficult to find the renegade or defector who will run against the party ticket. We suggest that the Democrats, Demo-crats, in the interest cf good local government take a good hard look at the present system. sys-tem. A.nd then forego placing a democratic label over any municipal election ticket again. o Under this system which worked well from 1B25 until about eight years ago according tr local ites conventions or petitions would nominate tickets tic-kets under labels of People's, Citizens or Independent or coin your own name and national political lines, which have little lit-tle bearing on local government, govern-ment, would be eliminated. o It would permit candidates from any party, or unaffiliated to run on either ticket, and the outcome would be settled on the basis of local issues and individuals rather than party loyalty. And while no threat isr intended, in-tended, there is talk around now, after checking the write-in write-in candidates, that if the Demos do persist in putting up a ticket tic-ket again that a split within with-in the party will put up a ticket under the label "Loyal Democrats." |
