Show iected at the Cove Fort Interchange Inter-change in Millard County, five miles away, and has been assured as-sured zoning is no problem there why should it be, Millard County has everything to gain and nothing to loose and already has a station at Cov:i Fori. 6. That your County Commissioners Com-missioners want support for this request. They know full well that people who are for a proposal generally are passive pas-sive while those against will apply all the pressure, no matter mat-ter how unreasonable, to defeat de-feat the request. We know that we will be competing with other interests in the County. We also know that these interests in-terests do not want competition competi-tion and will be a solid block against this proposal at the public hearing, but ask yourselves your-selves do their actions represent rep-resent the best interest of the whole county? We invite and urgently appeal ap-peal to any persons who support sup-port our position, that rezoning of Pine Creek is to the best interest of the County, to contact con-tact a County Commissioner, or if possible attend the public hearing on November 3rd. We ask, too, that each County Commissioner will earnestly reprsent the constituants or majority ma-jority of the people he represents repre-sents rather than vote the dictates dic-tates of special interests groups who are concerned about competition com-petition rather than the economic econ-omic enhancement our project can provide for the whole of Beaver County. We intend to fully support Beaver County in promoting tourist and Recreational Development De-velopment in every and any way possible and ask that we be given the opportunity to become be-come a part of the . Business Community in the County. Sincerely, J. K. Bushnell Deseret Investors Group, Inc. Dear Ed Since 1964 Deseret Investors Group, (three individuals), has remained silent about what we feel has been discriminatory actions by County politicians against new business a.nd employment em-ployment opportunities in Beaver County. Now that we are faced with a public hearing hear-ing on November 3rd at 8 p.m., to have the residents and taxpayers tax-payers of the County voice their views of rezoning the Sulpherdale Interchange (Pine Creek) located 20 miles north of Beaver City on 1-15, we vant to reveal what we feel is at issue and ask for support from concerned citizens of the County. Did you Know: 1. That your current Planning Plan-ning Board voted in July to rezone this land for business? Their comments included a statement by a member of this board that we should encourage encour-age "Free Enterprise" and let business succeed where and when ii can! 2. That every County official within the past two administrations adminis-trations has expressed an opinion opin-ion that Pine Creek would "some day" be commercial We'll ask, why wait? Should the whole county suffer a loss of tax revenue and jobs which can keep the young people in the County? The interchanges at each end of Beaver City are now zoned for business and developments are underway and assured this is our competition com-petition and why should Phillips Phil-lips Petroleum, Standard Oil and Texaco not be allowed to build additional facilities at Pine Creek when they are now located at Beaver City interchanges. inter-changes. We are offering to provide strictly plus business to the county, after all, hasn't half the traffic passed Beaver by the time it gets to Pine Creek? 3. That developments now planned at Pine Creek could employ at least 100 people and add a minimum of $35,000 per year to the County Tax Base thru property tax and sales taxes this does not include in-clude the multiplier effect this will have since dollars paid employees will be traded thru-out thru-out the balance of the county. Also, that 53 of the county residents are either over 65 or 19 and under the ages which need tax dollars the most. 4. That the same persons who opposed rezoning this property in 1965 are opposing it the most strenuously today and will be the same people or special interest groups who will be opposing this 10 years from now. Why should the county continue to loose young people to other employment areas when new jobs can be provided provid-ed for many of them thru this development? Is a special interest in-terest more important to a County Commissioner than the majority of County residents? 5. That if rezoning is delayed at Pine Creek, important business busi-ness can be lost to Millard and Sevier Counties. We currently cur-rently have a business who wants to locate on this interchange, inter-change, but if we are turned down on zoning, has a site se- |
