Mr. McDermond is authority for the statement that the Orpheum Or-pheum Theare here is the smallest theatre in the smallest town in the country to be wired for talkies. TWENTY-FOUR YEARS AGO May 8, 1917 Mr, and Mrs. Max Gilling announce an-nounce the marriage of their daughter, Shirlene, to Mr. Ray Barnes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Barnes. The Milford Junior High School will present the two-act Spanish Operetta, "The Toreo dors," Tuesday afternoon and evening, May 11. The cast of characters includes in-cludes Hubert Hickman, Elaine Baker, Gale Elmer, Wallace Hughes, Thorpe Waddingham, Joan Hickman and Wilma Cor-bridge. Cor-bridge. EASTERN STAR HAS SPECIAL MEETING A special meeting of Ruth Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, was held on Friday, April 30th, in the Masonic Temple, for the official visitation of the officers of the Grand Chapter oi Utah. Mrs. Vera Beitz, worthy matron ma-tron and Mr. H. C. Garfield, worthy patron, presided. Distinguished guests were Mrs. Martha C. Prisk, worthy grand organist of the General Grand Chapter of the world; Mrs. Lois M. Ross, worthy grand matron; Mrs. Lillian H. Gallagher, associate grand matron; mat-ron; Mr. Gustin O. Gooding, associate grand patron; Mrs. Grace C. Parker, grand secretary; secre-tary; Mrs. Edna E. Staten, grand chaplain; Mrs. Hernia Shaffer, grand lecturer; Mrs. Evelyn Weldon, grand marshal; Mrs. Betty McClintic. grand organist; Mrs. Greta H. Fillpot, grand Adah; Mrs. Dorothy Bar-kle, Bar-kle, grand Ruth; Mr, Velma Graham, grand Esther; Mrs. Patty McDonald, grand Martha; Mrs. Hortense Swedenborg, grand Electa; Mrs. Lillian Jones grand warder and Mr, H, Floyd Nash, all of the Grand Chapter of Utah. Mrs. Amy Zwiebel, pqst grand matron of Nevada, was also an honored guest. Fifteen Chapters of Utah and one Chapter of Nevada were represented at the meeting. O.ne hundred and two members attended at-tended the session, including fourteen grand representatives of fourteen Grand Jurisdictions. Following the meeting, a delicious de-licious buffet supper was served serv-ed and a social hour enjoyed. Committee members were Mrs. Lorene Baldwin, chairman, chair-man, Mrs. Garnet Garfield, Mrs. Florence Barnes and Mrs. Alica Elmer. Beautjful garden flowers in pretty flower pots, decorated each table, with baskets, of flowers adding to the beauty o! thn room. This is the outstanding affair of the year for the Milford Chapter. |
