Show Coach Payne reportes that Milford's new baseball field, though not completed isn't so bad. The Tigers were flaying in Fillmore last Friday and a ball was hit to the outfield and before it could be retrieved, a ho; ato it. o Actually the rushing job of getting the Pony League field in shape so the high school could play on it drew criticism criti-cism from several quarters, and though not tip top, has proved to be one of the better ball parks in the league. o One factor that is a must, if problems are to be kept to a minimum, is good neighborliness by the spectators specta-tors who go to watch the balf game:. Folks don't like a yard full of pop bottles, their garbage cans dumped, fences broken down or the alley littered with broke.'i glas.1. Respect for other people's property is the first prerequisite to good neighborliness, no matter mat-ter what you do. But it is es- pecially important when you are involved where a concentration concen-tration of activity such as at the ball parks or city park, provide pro-vide surrounding home owners with added problems. Your city and little league and high school officials due the best they can to guarantee that no persons right will be trespassed but it is not anough unless every spectator specta-tor and player makes the extreme ex-treme effort to respect other people's property. o Good manners are such a small effort, and mean so much to those subject to trespass simply because their homes are located near a park. But good manners should extend to the other team, spectators and especially, es-pecially, in the case of the city park, to others who use the park. o Those who wish to play ball should respect the rights of those who wish to just sit and visa versa. Those who do not want to duck a hit ball should position themselves out of the line of fire. Maximum, cooperation and respect for the right of others will not only provide for the most multiiple ues, but also protect your rights to use of the facilities. Last week, April 23rd a plane went down in the Beaver mountains near Cove Fort. Try as best they could, the Sheriff's Dept. and the Jeep Patrol could not find it until last Tuesday morning. The pilot had walked out, so biicjii was 111 ClilCI goii-j. , uuv finally on Tuesday morning the Sheriff, piloted toy Ben Briscoe located the plane at the 8900 ft level, just south of Cove For standing on its wing with the other wing up against a cedar tre. Ben Briscoe, volunteered to take ye ol ed, over for a look and a few pictures, and we accepted, ac-cepted, without hesitation. The irony was that, the camera cam-era wasn't loaded correctly and as a result, no picures. We appreciate efforts of those such as Ben who go out of their way to help us do a better job of covering the news, and deeply regret a malfunction malfunc-tion which sometimes causes us to miss the picture or story after so much effort has been put forth. But anyway, we thank Ben for the beauiful trip our first over the Beaver Mountains. o Milford is without any means of passenger transportation for probably the first time since it became a town. The railroad has always, provided pro-vided a means, with as many as eight or nine trains a day to recent years when passenger service was cut to one each way, and now, thanks to Amtrac Am-trac nothing. The City fathers are initiating a plea to the Greyhound Co. in hopes that they will route a line from Cedar City north through Minersville, Milford and Delta in the a.m. and then south over the same route in thi p.m. There is no doubt of the need those who do not drive and fly are isolated. This is an admiral endeavor which should be supported by the whole community. |
