Show OPEN HOUSE IS HUGE SUCCESS The open house at the high school last Wednesday was termed a huge success by the faculty and the Better Schools Committee who co-sponsored the evening. The usual tact was changed from "come see what your child is doing" to "come see what is available for your child in, the system. Many parents iwere surprised at the changes that have been made in the structure, curriculum curricu-lum and approach to teaching. . At first thought, you think, how much easier it is to learn with all the modern advances, the fancy equipment, the tools that would be play things for many of us. Then the realization of how much more a child must absorb in elementary and high school, than even 20 years ago. The technological advances have been great, the greatest in the history of mankind. The old techniques are not fast enough for the average child, it must intrigue the mind, the emphasis must be put on trapping the mind, the subconscious, and make learning fun as well as as informative. Milford High School is well on its way to doing just that. Election of officers of the Better Schools Committee were held preceding the tour of the facilities: Gladys Whittaker was elected president; James Mayer, May-er, Vice-president; and Beth Edwards, sec. They will serve as first term officers for the recently formed Better Schools Committee, who's function will be to act as a liason between the school, school board and the parents. |
