Commission Approves Zoning, Set '71 Budget ing Deseret Investors Group, requested re-quested that their petition re-zone re-zone land at the Pine Creek-Sulphurdale Creek-Sulphurdale interchange be set for public hearing so that they could present information as to why the petition should be granted. The petition had been recommended for denial by the planning commission. A public hearing was set for March 1, 1971 at 8 o'clock p.m. Milton Sevy of the State Dept. of Employment Security asked the county to participate in a work experience and training train-ing agreement where the coun-ty coun-ty would furnishl employment and supervision, to welfare recipients re-cipients with no other cost or obligation to the county. Accepted proposal to appropriate ap-propriate $200 a month to cover expense of a man to supervise alcholics referred to AA by the local judges. Hired Ben Robinson to road crew on an emergency basis. Accepted resignation of George Rich as chairman of the Beaver County Planning Commission. Took under consideration the legality of helping to spon? soj the county boy scouts financially. The County Commissioners met last Friday for a public hearing on zoning and again on Monday in their regular session and in what is probably the last significant action for chairman chair-man Hy Lee who goes to the state house Jan .1st, and Commissioner Com-missioner Vendon Myers who was defeated in the General Election in November, voted to open the zoning of the Interstate Inter-state 15 enterchanges at the north and south entrances to Beaver City and set the new budget. The zoning was approved on some 10 petitions with Vendon Myers making the first motion and Richard Jefferson providing provid-ing the second on the petition of Lincoln Land & Development. Develop-ment. This got the ball rolling with Myers and Jefferson swapping motions and seconds, and Hy Lee abstaining, they moved to approve all petitons pending on the north south exchanges, ex-changes, which brought applause ap-plause from a majority of the persons in attendance. The mo-was mo-was later amended by Jefferson Jeffer-son to list the names on the petitions. At the regular meeting on Monday, several business-men of Beaver and property owners of the North Beaver Annexa tion appeared before the Board to protest the rezoning of the North Beaver interchange and to request that the action of the Board on Friday foe recinded. A rather lengthy and heated discussion was had, but no other oth-er action was taken. Ordinance No. 112 providing for the rezoning was presented bv the County Attorney and passed by motion by Myers and second toy Jefferson. Hy Le voted against this time. Thyis being the time set for public hearing on the adoption of a budget for the year 1971, and the County Auditor having submitted his proposed budget after discussion, the budget was increased by a total $9,656.00 as follows: The Clerk-Auditor $600 to cover 1970 vacation time of C. V. Smith; Extension Service, $300; Advertising and promotion promo-tion $1,000; Sundry, $1,000; Public Pub-lic Safety from $20,100 to $26, 266.; Health Dept. $290; and Recreation from $500 to $800. It was moved by Com. Myers and seconded by Comm. Lee and unanimously passed that the budget be adopted with ' these amendments. Wayne 240 lbs had just pinned his 290 pound opponent. He will be wrestling in the heavyweight division tonight (Thursday) in Milford's first league match against Beaver at the gymnasium, 7:00 p.m. |
