Show jfetiivuii If you saw Principal Jesse Long running around the school with an old cow bell in his hand last Monday, there's no need to think the school is going go-ing back to the horse and buggy bug-gy days. The power was off while the new shop equipment was being hooked up and Jesse had to resort to the old standby in order to get the kids from class to class. o On page 2 of this issue, there is a letter to the people of Milford Mil-ford requesting their presence at a meeting Oct. 7 at the Legion Leg-ion Hall to form a Parent School organization to coordinate coordin-ate efforts in the same direction. direc-tion. This writer hasn't been around long enough to know whether this effort is needed, but if you have ideas on the subject, this is the time and place to air them. Our experience with parent-teacher parent-teacher association has been to go to the meetings and sit and wish it were over so we could go home. I'm not saying that some good cannot come from such an organization, but it is necessary that it be a con-1 con-1 structive organization rather than social. Here's to better schools. This column made mention of an AP story in the Tribune some time back which misquoted mis-quoted Nick Swai.n in speaking of the Milford City Youth Committee. Com-mittee. Well it seems that the story got picked up by the Milwaukee Journay in Milwaukee, Milwau-kee, Wise, and the mis-quote was repeated. It seems that 90-year-old Karl Bennwitz who is in a home for the aged sent the article and a letter to a German language newspaper the Milwaukee Her-old Her-old who in turn passed it and the letter on to Mr. Swain. - The basis of it all is that this 90 years old gentleman, in Milwaukee, salutes Mr. Swain and the Milford City Youth Committee for their ef- forts and work in cleaning up the town and fixing up the Youth Center. You got to admit that Beaver had Milford outclassed last Friday. Fri-day. 46-6 Whooee! Kent Swindlehurst, Beaver quarterback called one of the best high school games I've seen, And catching that Dan Cox was like trying to corner a pig in a silo. It just couldn't be done. He has more moves than Raquel Welch. Actually the Tigers played a pretty fair game, but Beaver was just too much for them. It could have been a lot worse without Gary Smith irt that safety spot. He made a lot of stops when there was nobody else between the runner and the Goal. It was a darned good ball-game ball-game to watch if you didn't spend too much time crying about the score. o Homecoming this week and the bunch at school have been all over town with their paint, and brushes. It's no wonder that all the businessmen are cooperative, they promised to "come back and wash it off." Suppose they'll wash the inside in-side too? o The new pontiacs went on sale yesterday, Tuesday. Pretty sharp looking automobiles. If you haven't seen one yet, stop in at Bob Tomsik's Service Garage and look them over. Managed to get out and take a crack at the Sage Hens last weekend. Somebody must of told 'em I was coming, because they were all prepared to leave for far-away places as soon as I got in sight. One of them made the mistake of waiting until I could get a look down that old double barrel though, so it wasn't a total loss. Now all I need is a recipe for sage hen. Anyway, now I know the difference dif-ference between sage hen hunting hunt-ing and dove hunting. With doves you hunt two hours and use two boxes of shells. With Sage hens, its two days and two shells. |
