Show TRIPS ON COLORADO RIVER OFFERED LABOR DAY WEEK END Deep and spectacular Glen Canyon Gorge will again be the ec2ne of open-to-the-public rubber-raft float trips sponsored by Page's John Wesley Powell Museum over ihe three day Labor Day week end. Anyone of any age can go along on the fascinating cruises. Passenger groups will be formed at the museum, Six North Seventh Ave., in Page at 9 a. m. each day, Saturday, Aug. 30; Sunday, Aug. 31, and Monday (Labor accessible only by boat. Float trip passengers can enjoy a swim in the cool blue waters of the river; a picnic on one of the many clean, white sandbars; a short hike to see aboriginal petroglyphs and the racked-out 'autographs' of early-day prospectors, and visits to archaeologically significant sig-nificant Hislop's Cave and the ruins of old Fort Lee. The "fare"' in the form of a donation to the non-profit museum is $15 for an adult, and $7.50 for children under 13 years of age. Lunch, cool beverages, a host-guide, and all vehicular transportation to and from Page and the river are included in the cost. Big, safe neoprene rafts will be piloted by expert, licensed rivermen who will carry float trip passengers down 15 miles of placid Colorado River from the foot of gigantic Glen Canyon Can-yon Dam to historic Lees Ferry. The trips provide the major source of income for operation of the new nonprofit non-profit museum. ' More than 250 persons enjoyed en-joyed cruises over the Memorial Memor-ial Day week end, some coming com-ing from as far away as Italy and Mexico. Special permits issued to the museum allow float trip participants par-ticipants to be transported through the huge, two mile long Glen Canyon Dam vehicular ve-hicular access tunnel. At the river's edge, with the world"s highest steel-arch bridge looming loom-ing 700 feet above, they board the big rafts and begin a daylong day-long voyage through one of the West's most remote and beautiful beau-tiful gorges.
