Show ; Mrs. Naomi Hughes MRS. NAOMI HUGHES NOMINATED FOR 'MOTHER OF YEAR Mrs. Naomi Hughes will be a nominee for "Utah Mother of the Year." She is sponsored by Milford Unit 16 of the American Legion Auxiliary. Utah's Mother of the Year will compete with mothers from other states for the national na-tional title. Qualifications include being a successful mother and home-maker, home-maker, an active mennber of a religious body, active in civic affairs, and public service. Mrs. Hughes was born in Logan, June 27, 1897, to Arthur Ar-thur and Martha Stevens. She I married J. Marion Hughes Oct. 1 19 ,1919, in the Logan LDS Temple. She attended the Logan schools, Ricks Academy in Rex-burg, Rex-burg, Idaho, and Utah State Agricultural College. They moved to Milford in 1926, and Mrs. Hughes has operated op-erated the Hughes Style and Floral Shoppe since 1938. Presi-dent. She is currently welfare chairman for the Unit. In the LDS Church she has served on the Stake Relief So- ciety Board, has been president of the Ward Relief Society, and held other church offices. A member of the Business and Professional Womens Club, Mrs. Hughes has filled several offices and (has been an officer in the E Sj A Sorority and the Lady Lions. She served as Home Service Chairman and Chapter Chairman Chair-man of thfe Red Cross, and is I now a Gray Lady at the Milford Mil-ford Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hughes is a talented vocalist, and enjoys art and needle work. She is the mother of six children, chil-dren, five of whom are living: Mrs. Doris Johnson, Logan; Col. Jonathan Stanley Hughes, Altus AFB, Okla.; Wallace Dean Hughes, Redding, Calif.; Lt. Col. Nolan S. Hughes, Ent AFB, Colo., and Maj. Vernon M. Hughes, Kadena AFB, Okinawa. Oki-nawa. She has 21 grandchildren. |
