Box 222, North Salt Lake. TENNESSEE ERNIE FORD COMES TO MUSIC HALL Tennessee Ernie Ford, who popularized religious music, will bring his show to Valley Music Hall April 11 through 16, with a special matinee performance per-formance on Saturday, April 16, at .:15 p. m. Against all odds Ern fought the battle for the placement of hynms and spirituals on television. tele-vision. When he first made the decision to accept an offer to do network television, Ern told the executives that he would have to be allowed to sing a religious song at the close of each program. Because the networks regulated this type of music to churches, there was plenty of negative talk, and Ern almost lost his show, but he stuck to his principles prin-ciples and finally won his point. As a result of this fight you hear hymn and spiritual music mu-sic .on many shows presently, and these songs, along with every other type he sings, have made Ernie Ford a household word today. By way of proving how right he was when he insisted that religious music was music to be enjoyed no matter how or when, Mr. Ford is listed as the biggest seller of this type of music in the world today.
