Show BANANA BREAD People in every land like bananas. In some countries they are one of the chief Joods. Highly nutritious and low in calories, they can be eaten raw or cooked into tasty dishes. Shown here is a favorite dish of Miss Chiquita's freshly-baked banana bread. It can be served at once or stored in the freezer for a delicious future treat. It is easily prepared as follows; 13 cup shortening 23 cup sugar 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 34 cups sifted all- purpose flour 2 34 tsp. baking powder 12 tsp. salt i v 1 cup mashed j, Chiquita Bananas (2-3) Beat shortening until creamy; or 2 minutes at medium speed on mixer. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy after each addition. Add eggs and beat until thick and pale lemon in color. Sift dry ingredients. Add alternately al-ternately with bananas.' Blend thoroughly after each addition. addi-tion. Grease bottom only of a 4 V X 8 inch loaf pan. Spoon batter into the pan. Bake in moderate (350) oven for 60 to 70 minutes. Bread is done when center springs back when touched lightly with fingers. Let cool 20 minutes in pan before turning onto rack. Makes one loaf. |
