He can use the experience which will be gained during the rest of the season, preparing for The gala homecoming festivities festivi-ties of last week lacked only one thing to make them rank with the best. The score of the ball game was 12-0 favoring Parowan. The assembly with Phyllis Whittaker and Mrs. George Sears emceeing with their usual us-ual levity and inside information informa-tion on teachers and students. Other fine talent got the day off with a bang The parade showed an effort and pride in school which was very good, and was lead by none other than Miford's own Marching Band, which brought applause up and down Main Street. The ballgame itself was encouraging en-couraging to us who have watched the Tigers in previous games. With Edwards out with a knee injury, maybe for the season sophomore Kevin Barnes drew his first starting roll on offense, and turned in a credible job, showing a de- next year. The offense opened up with pod gains through the middle mid-dle for the first time this year. Primarily this was through the efforts of Garland Tait, another sophomore, and stalwart senior running back, Kris Yardley. Tait, who was playing in the backfield for the first time, looked real good, and did a fine job of replacing speedster Richard Smith who still has an ailing leg. He was exception excep-tion on the second effort and both he and Yardley broke tackles like Milford fans have-nt have-nt seen this year. Another bright spot in the 12-0 loss was senior tackle Kevin Brox, who has been a standout on defense all year and was utilized at fullback for a few plays, always gan-ing gan-ing yardage with each carry. The first came on a pass play, with Parowan's big tackle eligible. eli-gible. He took a long bomb about six feet from the nearest near-est defender and scampered another 40 yards for the TD. with only 10 seconds left in the third quarter. The next Ram TD came with 9:11 left in the 4th quarter, when Larry Kellogg, left the field everyone thought, only to step into position as the ball was snapped and then take a sideline pass on the sleeper who scampered another 50 yards for the TD. Milford was able to control most of the game, entering the Ram 20 yard line several times but was unable to score. They (with the exception of the two TD runs) were able to contain the Ram offense. The Tigers meet Beaver on the Beavers home ground this weekend. The Beavers beat the highly touted Dixie team from St. George last week and look real good for a repeat of their last two years championships. But don't count this young Tiger team out of it. They still could win some ballgames this year. And there is no better place to start than in Beaver Friday. |
