V v"f 1 I - S f . ! - - : TOM WALKER WORKS WITH RETARDED YOUTH Nine children participating in the cooperative five-county program pro-gram for the trainable mentally retarded in Cedar City have been outfitted in new gym provided" by the Circle KT Club at Southern Utah State Collage. As part of the recreation phase of training for the handicapped handi-capped children, weekly sessions ses-sions in gymna;tics are conducted conduc-ted at Cedar City High School. When it came to the attention of the SUSC service group that some of the partisipants did not have appropriate lclothing for these activities, they elected to donate shirts and shorts as one of their current projects. Under the direction of Evelyn Eve-lyn Lyman, the needs of the children were determined as to types of clothing and sizes. Each child now has a complete gym outfit for exercising on the trampoline, tumbling mats, and other gymnastic equipment. Tom Walker, Milford,. full time instructor for all of the daytime activitiees provided for the group, said that the young students have shown significant phisical development through their recreational activities. The program also includes a weekly swimming session in the SUSC pool. The TMR children have participated parti-cipated since last fall in a live-in live-in situation which involves 24 hour planned activities designed to assist them in achieving maximum devopment.
