Show HO HUM MEETING COUNCIL LOOKS OVER BUDGET With both Mayor Mayer and Mayor Pro-Tern Swain absent Monday night, Councilman Thompson was elected to fill that vacancy and conducted the business of the city with Councilman Coun-cilman Hardy and Council-woman Council-woman Whittaker. Recorder Jones reported that Carl Lowe who is dissatisfied with the contract at the airport had agreed to stay o.n another month under the present contract, con-tract, in an effort to work out something more equitable. They will direct their effort to the parks and cemetery to get them in shape for Memorial Day. Picked the work on Library Li-brary Hill for the recommended recommend-ed National Guard Project. Decided that it would be cheaper to buy materials and hire man to fix judges chambers, cham-bers, rather than to contract . the work. Reported a leak in the library li-brary roof and the need to paint and repair the inside of the library. This took only about one hour and in the absence of something else to do and being used to much longer shifts, they took an hour to familiarize familiar-ize themselves with the budget bud-get which should be prepared for council discussion by next meeting. |
