Show PARTY FETES THREE ON RETIREMENT A combined retirement party was held by the B of L E and B of L F & E for engineers Walter Johnson and Nathan E. Smith, and fireman Jack Radke at the Glen Barnes home, Saturday evening. A steak fry with delicious food was served buffet style to about 60 guests. John R. Hardy, president, presented a pen and pencil set to Mr. Johnson, who has served serv-ed in the South Central District Dis-trict since 1927. Mrs. Johnson was presented a lovely handkerchief hand-kerchief by Mrs. Vera Cooper, president of the Lady Engineers. Engi-neers. Mr. Johnson, a former Milford Mil-ford resident, now lives in Cedar Ce-dar City. Thurland D. Sly, president of the B of L F & E, presented a set of luggage to Nathan E. Smith, who started work as a call boy in 1914 and became a fireman in 1917. He and his family have made Milford their home ever since. He retired as engineer in October, 1963. Mrs. Mina Leppink, president presi-dent of the Lady Firemen, presented pre-sented a purse and gloves to Mrs. Smith. Jack Radke, who has made Milford his home for a number num-ber of years, received a set of fishing equipment from Mr. Sly on behalf of the B of L F & E. The committee, including members of both organizations and auxiliaries, consisted of John R. Hardy, Heber Myers, G. E. McGinn, Vera Cooper, Florence Barnes, Eva Banks, Thurland D. Sly, Albert Mer-ryweather, Mer-ryweather, Leo Harton, Mina Leppink, Margaret Lund, and Maurine Miller. |
