Show By the Journalism Glass f Milford Hign School Mrs. Mary McCuIley, Instructor FHA CONVENTION Early Friday morning 17 girls, including Mrs. Rimpau and Mrs. Merryweather, boarded board-ed the train to Salt Lake to at-tned at-tned the annual FHA Convention. Conven-tion. Most of the day Friday was spent shopping and in the evening eve-ning everyone got ready for the opening meeting. After this meeting, a social was held for the voting delegates and the candidates for state office. After each of the meetings friendships were made, old friends were able to talk about old times, ana everybody had a wonderful time. Finally, the higniignt 'or the convention was the banquet which was held Saturday night. The guest speaker was Buck Brady. At the end of the banquet, ban-quet, new officers were installed. in-stalled. Linda Roberts was come out and participate in the sport of track and field this year. SOPHOMORES SHOW Friday, the Sophomores will present their assembly to the student body and townspeople. After weeks of preparation and hard work, they will reveal re-veal much hidden talent. The assembly will consist of dances and musical numbers, and maybe even the BEATLES. This is to be a fine and worthwhile assembly, so let's have the townspeople come out and see this fine assembly. MRS. ROWLEY HONORED Mrs. Barbara Rowley well deserved the beautiful corsage presented to the coaches' wives by the Jetettes of Dixie College at last Friday's game. She especially deserves a special thanks from our school for everything she has done. Thanks again, Mrs. Rowley. This beneficial film was very interesting and eye-opening because be-cause of the fact that it made everyone stop and think about how many wonderful things our sun does for us. (Held over from last week) WIZARD AT GLASS A Lyceum was presented Monday morning for the students stu-dents and faculty by Dr. Melville, Mel-ville, a chemist from the University Uni-versity of Iowa. He entertained the students by heating, shaping, blowing, and stretching glass. While he was creating a boat and a vase he told some of the history of glass. With the help of Bart Brink-man Brink-man and Russell Horton he stretched some glass the length of the auditorium and blew the glass fine enough to eat. An item of special Interest to the girls was some cloth made of glass. This assembly was enjoyed by all and we would like to invite Dr. Melville back again soon. JASPER'S AT IT AGAIN. Jasper Walket, our school carpenter, has really been on the ball these last few weeks. Not only has he put in new drinking fountains and put doors on the shelves In the English and Typing room, but now he is fixing up our bookstore. book-store. Taking out the long counter, he has put in a new shelf on the door, to give the sellers of the materials lots more room. He has also taken out and repaired re-paired all the shelves. From the old cramped quarters, quar-ters, this change will make our bookstore much better. elected state secretary for the coming year. After the banquet the girls packed their clothes, said long, sad good-byes to their friends and jumped into taxis for the depot. All the girls who attended at-tended will always remember the wonderful times they had at the FHA convention, held Friday and Saturday at the Newhouse Hotel. PHYSICAL FITNESS The girls physical education - classes will present an assembly assem-bly Monday, March 9. Each class will entertain the students stu-dents and faculty with one or two numbers and some novelty routines. The classes will join together to perform a physical fitness routine. All classes from the seventh thru twelfth are participating in this assembly. The girls have been preparing for this in their P E classes. SNOW SHOES IN STYLE The track program for the Tigers of Milford will begin the first warm day this week. But the way the weather is acting, the Tigers will be running run-ning in snow shoes instead of track shoes. The track team will be getting get-ting the good old "one-two" as soon as the weather permits. The track needs a lot of work done on it, as weeds and other pests have done a good job of littering it up. This work detail de-tail will be lined up by Principal Prin-cipal Long. Coach Davids Invites all the boyg who are Interested to The girls arrived approximately approxi-mately 30 minutes early so they could be assigned to tables and receive instructions which would be of help to them during dur-ing the evening. The money earned from this venture will go into the FHA treasury to help with the school project of buying a mirror mir-ror for the girls' restroom. LOOKING FORWARD Many months of planning by the Junior Class will "pay off when the date April 10 rolls around. The 54 class members have been busy planning and preparing pre-paring for the big Prom, and it's only 35 school days away. A Prom Committee meeting was held Tuesday night and many details were cleared up and final preparations are beginning be-ginning to take form. All of the Junior Class is proud to announce that the Prom theme is "Clair de Lune" and that they will present this dance to the Senior High School students, the alumni, and friends of MHS. "OUR MR. SUN" The American Telephone and Telegraph Co. presented a film to Milford High School last Thursday afternoon. The film entitled "Our Mr. Sun" was another of the very fine Bell Telephone series. It served as a reminder of the many ways in which the sun is very necessary neces-sary and useful part of the lives of the people living on this earth. Also, it pointed out some of the newest developments devel-opments in using the sun to |
