Show RED CROSS DRIVE STARTS MARCH 12 The Milford Red Cross Chapter Chap-ter will start their 1964 drive for funds next Thursday, March 12th, it was announced today by Mrs. Cecil Killam, fund drive chairman. Goal for 19G4 is $473, 51 of which will remain in the local treasury for use, as needed, In carrying on the Red Cross program of aid to the needy, or in disasters. The fund drive will be conducted con-ducted between the 12th and 19th of March, Mrs. Killam said. "The Red Cross belongs to all people," Mrs. Killam said. "It serves all the people and depends entirely upon their voluntary support for its funds. We hope at least one person in each family will become a Red Cross member by contributing con-tributing funds during this campaign." The chapter's fund goal, she said, is set after careful consideration con-sideration by volunteer leaders of local and national Red Cross needs. She emphasized that 51 of the funds collected remains re-mains in West Beaver County to provide services to the people peo-ple of this area, and the remaining re-maining 49 will go to the national organization as the Chapter's alloted share of the total expenditures of the National Na-tional American Red Cross. "In effect, however, if not in actual fact," Mrs. Killam pointed out, "these national funds 'come back home' to the families, friends and neighbors of the contributors." contribu-tors." Among National services which 'come back home' are: Aid to servicemen and their dependents at home and abroad. Emergency care for disaster victims. The growing Red Cross blood collection and distribution distribu-tion program. Training American families in home nursing, first aid and water safety. Helping our youth gain, by serving others thru the Red Cross, the experience and training train-ing that will equip them to become be-come the future leaders of our community and nation. |
