Show LINDA ROBERTS, BRUCE MAYER GET KIZER AWARD Mayor Ray Kizer made his ninth annual Citizenship Awards at Milford High School during a special assembly as-sembly last Thursday afternoon. aft-ernoon. Recipients were Linda Elaine Roberts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vance Roberts, and Bruce Lynn Mayer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene H. Mayer. The award, presented to a boy and girl of the Junior Class each year, is based on citizenship, scholarship, leadership leader-ship and patriotism. The winners, win-ners, selected by a group of high school faculty members, law enforcement officers and citizens, receive a shoulder patch for their class sweaters, a certificate suitable for framing, and Mayor Kizer's personal check to reimburse them for the cost of their class sweaters. In presenting the awards this year Mayor Kizer told the student stu-dent body: "One of the most important institutions in the life of every community is the institution of government. Every Ev-ery American has the right to be free, but with that freedom goes the responsibility to exercise exer-cise an active interest in the affairs of government, to keep informed on political issues, and to vote. "The development of an alert, reasoning, responsible citizenry Is one of the most important aspects of community development develop-ment and this development of good citizenship must begin at home. "I feel that all students of Milford High School are good citizens, good Americans, and concerned about the future governing of our nation. In presenting this award today to these two students the committee commit-tee which selected them, and I, commend them for the outstanding out-standing citizenship traits they have shown during their Junior Jun-ior year at Milford High." |
