Show rai CD itjeL BACK TO SCHOOL It's back to school time in the halls of Milford High. The thrill of summer vacation wore off for many M. H. S. students some time ago. Some students were reluctant to give up their lay days but found themselves anxiously awaiting the first c'ay of school. Everyone is once again rushing from one classroom to another eagerly greeting new teachers and students; stu-dents; and renewing old acquaintances. ac-quaintances. Almost every class has gained a few new students and has lost some. We welcome the new students to Milford High. STUDENTS REGISTER Friday, August 24, Milford High School students of the 9th ASC MEETING SET The annual meeting for formulating the Agricultural Conservation Program is scheduled sched-uled to be held in the Beaver Community Center September 4. 1962. The meeting will begin promptly at 2:00 P.M. It i the desire of the County ASC Committee to have as many of the conservation leaders lead-ers in the county there as possible. pos-sible. It is believed that this will lsnd to formulating a program pro-gram of the greatest possible conservation benefits to the county. The agenda, prepared so that the meeting may be as effective and short as possible, is as follows: fol-lows: Purpose: Review basic program pro-gram principles, Emphasize contribution toward over-all conrervation program for the county, and Review past accomplishments. ac-complishments. Conservation Objectives: Review objectives and work plans of: Beaver SCD, Alan Hatchings; Twin M SCD, Ralph Pearson; State F&G Othello Riley; Ri-ley; Forest Service, Dee R. Ritchie; FHA, Brooks Poulson. Also to be discussed are: Range Conservation Objectives, Erosion Control & Permanent Cover Objectives, Water Conservation Con-servation Objectives, Adaptability Adapta-bility of Forestry Practices, Adaptability of Wildlife Practices, Prac-tices, and Weed Control as a Conservation Measure. On the basis of these discussions discus-sions and recommendations the County ACP Development will develop and submit the final recommendations for the 1963 Agricultural Conservation Pro- gram to the Utah State ACP Development Group for their consideration. through 12th grades met at 9:00 A.M. in the auditorium. New teachers were introduced intro-duced by Principal Pettey and students were welcomed back. The students were dismissed to register and pay fees. In the afternoon the 7th and 8th grades met and also registered. regis-tered. Students and teachers are all looking forward to a successful and pleasant school year. NEW TEACHERS FOR M.H.S. Milford High has the privilege privi-lege of seven new teachers for the staff this year. It will really real-ly make it an interesting year for us, the students, to be guided guid-ed by these new faces and personalities per-sonalities around us. They have presented different methods and ways of teaching. Therefore, There-fore, we are looking forward to trying these different ways. The new staff consists of: Borita Terry, Jovce Pelersoi, Duard Davids, Floyd Wells, Kenneth Roe, Reece Thomas, and James Hopkin. Reece Thomas is also the new counselor coun-selor this year. We, the students, should do our part by extending our full cooperation and show the teachers what a good school this can be. NEW SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS Many new changes have been taking place at Milford High School this summer. Several Sev-eral rooms have been painted and new equipment added. New desks and chairs have been added to the type Department Depart-ment and several typewriters will be replaced. In the newly decorated auditorium audi-torium there are new seats and a new piano which the students will appreciate. The finishing touches have been added to the Home Ec. Department. The tennis courts ' and grounds have been black-topped, black-topped, and new linoleum has been laid on the stairs. So students stu-dents let's try and keep our school looking as nice as it does now. RED CROSS Red Cross is on the march and all high school students are urged to join. Their participation parti-cipation as well as that of all departments is urgently needed. Red Cross is no longer a tin badge for a dime, but a great organization that can be lots of fun as well as helpful. When you join the Red Cross you be- come an international friend as well as a national helper. VEGAS INVITES M.H.S. BAND The Milford High School Band has been invited by the local American Legion to represent rep-resent them at their National Legion Convention to be held in Las Vegas on October 7th. The band will march and play in the parade. Band officers were elected Monday; they are as follows; Pres., Doug Fowels, Vice Pres., Linda Acklin ,and Sec, -Vicki Ogden. INDUSTRIAL ARTS NEWS The shop has a new teacher this year, Mr. Floyd Wells, who is a graduate of Brigham Young University and is from Blackfoot, Idaho. The only new equipment in the shop is a jointer which is used for planing boards. |
