Show Cooperative Dairy Ass'n. Considered In a move to bring more stable revenues to the South Milford farming area, one meeting has been held and another an-other planned to discuss forming form-ing a cooperative Grade A Dairy association for South Milford. Announcement of the move, and explanation of the pur-" poses and the program, was made this week by Eugene H. (Gene) Mayer, South Milford farmer and potato grower.. "Potato planting and production, produc-tion, as well as market price, has declined about 50 in . recent re-cent years," Mr. Mayer said: "alfalfa revenues are declining, and it's time the South Milford farmers were looking to other crops and other uses, which will be more profitable, for the alfalfa they raise." Using only one-third of the available water rights for growing alfalfa and grains to feed the dairy stock, the cooperative co-operative could feed 1,000 good dairy cows in the pool, and use the remainder of their water wa-ter to raise other cash crops. The group is also investigating investigat-ing possibility of establishing a processing plant in Milford to utilize surplus milk. Temporary officers are Russell Rus-sell Mayer, chairman, and Gene Mayer, Clair Gillins, Hy Tolley and Jerry Mayer, committeemen. |
