Show Beaver Guard Plans Observance of Fourth Annual 'Muster Day' This week the Utah National Guard will join nearly 6,000 Guard units in 2200 American communities communi-ties to observe the fourth annual National Guard Muster Day. The nationwide observance in honor of George Washington, our first president, pres-ident, will include 470,000 members mem-bers of the Army and1 Air National Guard, according to Capt. William W. Firmage, commander of the Beaver Guard unit. The Beaver Guard unit, with a strength of more than 45 officers offi-cers and men, will hold an open house at the Armory Saturday afternoon, and a Military Ball Saturday night in American Legion Le-gion Hall. At the ball, M iss Beaver County Coun-ty National Guard, winner of the talent, beauty and personality contest conducted Wednesday evening, will be announced. The Beaver County winner will compete com-pete in the state finals for the title of Miss Utah National Guard. Mayor Martell Easton of Beaver issued a proclamation proclaiming Washington's -birthday an occasion in Beaver to pay tribute to the officers of-ficers and men of the Utah National Na-tional Guard. "These fighting men are now prepared and completely capable, as they have been for 110 years, to serve our city, our state, and our nation in any emergency," Mayor Easton said. "From Colonial Colon-ial times up to the present National Na-tional Guard organizations have readily adapted themselves to new fighting techniques and the use of the latest weapons."
