Show I Fire Truck Fails ; Home In Minersville Destroyed Fire demolished the home of -Mrs. Chloe Davis, Minersville, shortly after midnight Sunday. The water pump on the city truck failed to function. The fire broke out while Mrs. Davis was in Payson caring for a daughter who is ill. Her son, Sher-al Sher-al Davis, told officers the smell of smoke aroused him shortly after j he had retired. When Minersville volunteer firemen reached the scene, they soon discovered the pump was out of order. The truck, which had not been used since July, carried no portabel extinguishers. Fire trucks from Milford and Beaver responded to calls, but the building was burned to the ground when they arrived. Damage was estimated at more than $8,000. Mr. Davis said the fire apparently was started by an overheated water heater. |
