Show West States Water And Power Conference Scheduled May 10 Chairman Douglas T. Simpson today announced a Western States Water and Power Conference Con-ference to be held in Salt Lake City, May 10-11. ' Mr. Simpson heads the steering committee directing the conference. The meeting will draw well-known well-known water and power reclamation recla-mation people from all Western states. Simpson said, including' several nationally-known Congressmen. Con-gressmen. Rep. Mike Kerwan (D-Ohio; has already accepted an invitation invi-tation to address the meeting, according to Simpson, who said Werwan would be presented with a placque for his outstanding outstand-ing service 'to Western reclamation recla-mation and public power users. Kirwan is chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee Subcom-mittee 'for the Interior. Describing the conference as a "powerhouse of power men'', Chairman Simpson said speakers speak-ers representing Congress, state offices, DEA co-ops, labor, National Na-tional Farmers Union, Utah Cooperative Co-operative Assn., private power, municipal power and other phases phas-es of Dublic power will congre- gate in the Utah capitol for the conference. Purpose of the conference is to air the multiple problems currently facing representatives I of public power, private power and Congressional committeemen committee-men concerned with water reclamation rec-lamation and sister electric pow--er projects. The conference is lo be strictly, strict-ly, educational, according to Mr. Simpson, who said no official action is expected to result from the confab Ken Billington, executive secretary, Washington Public Utility District Assn., will lead the Upper and Lower Columbia -River Basin section. State Sen. B. H. Stringham, Vernal, will head the Upper Colorado River Basin section; Ken Holum of Groton, So. Dakota, leads the Upper Missouri Basin section; ' and George Sehlmyer, Master, California State Grange, has been chosen as chairman for the California section. |
