Dance continued from front Alvarez, who never quit trying to teach me, asked the woman he was dancing with to partner me while he worked with Roskelley. I suddenly knew what it was like to have to take remedial math while your friends advance well beyond your comprehension. Roskelley and Alvarez shuffled out more advanced steps, while some stranger and I rehashed "the mechanics." I continued to struggle with even the most basic steps. Luckily, my new partner was a sweetheart. I stubbed her stocking-clad toe, and she said, "I'm sorry, I stepped on myself." Alvarez sent Roskelley back my way and taught us a salsa dance. Alvarez monitored my progress closely. He noticed I was giving up. 'The worst thing you can do is stop," he said. Roskelley later mentioned she was disappointed that I did not keep going after I would get lost in a step. "It didn't matter what previous experience or knowledge anybody had," Roskelley said. "Everybody had to see it several times before they could do it." Sounds good in theory, but I could have seen it three million times in slow motion and still never would have gotten it. I was that clueless. We continued to dance. I continued to stumble and wish the time would expire so I could go somewhere dark and drown my self-pity in margaritas. I completely forgot to move my feet once, and Alvarez noticed. "Let's everyone be on the same page," he said. Hell, I was not even in the same dance library. I missed the steps, and that is something I will never, ever do again. Wednesday night was Leo's Last Waltz. 400 YEARS WITH HASKELLS Pub islied privately. It has 428 pages. The four men vying for the open commission seat will be taking questions from the audience 10 to 11 a.m. Following the questions, each will meet and talk with students in the foyer. "Students should come because it will make them more informed about the qualifications each candidate has to best meet the duty requirements," said Julie Worden, senator for social and behavioral science. "Students need to be involved in making decisions in who represents them." Glen Burton (R) Continued growth of Weber County will be one of the issues Burton will focus on if elected. With an economic development standpoint, Burton wants to make Weber County a "viable location for jobs." He has played a part of the Envision Utah Quality Growth Strategy. Three years ago. Burton helped with the study for the feasibility of commuter rail in order to relieve traffic on the interstate. He is currently aiding in studies for the Legacy Highway as to which corridor should be used. Burton, the incumbent, is contending for his second term in office. He has worked for the Ogden City Fire Department 27 years, then served as fire chief until his appointment to the commission in 1996. Gregg Chambers (Independent American) Responsibility, consistency and trust are the three ideas Chambers will implement if elected.
