Show 'Cat runners blaze past Bengals Rod Zundel Staff Reporter With the Big Sky Conference Championship about two weeks away, the WSC men's track team is peaking at the right time. Saturday, the Cats defeated Idaho State in a dual meet, 90-61 at Wildcat Stadium. The 29-point spread was better than Weber State's head coach Chic Hislop had anticipated. "I thought it was going to be a five point meet... we did better than I expected," Hislop said. "Wade Orton, Brian Ely, and Mike Neal were a big help to us... they came over from the football team and did a good job." Hislop said. In the running events Kurt Trane had another big day. Trane won both the 110 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles with respective times of 14.61 and 52.80. Although Trane's times were not as good as they were in the previous weeks, they were good enough for two first place finishes. Greg Hyde picked up another first place finish for the Wildcats in the 1,500 meters. He finished the race with a time of 4:02.08. In the 100 meter sprint, Gerald Pitts registered a time of 10.92. Pitts' time was good for a first place finish. Gerald Bean also ran well for the Wildcats. He ran the 800 meters in 153.66 to capture first place. In the field events, Ely was able to capture first place in the shot put. His winning toss traveled 48'6". In another throwing event, the discus, Neal was able to capture first.
