I thought about what she had said to me and finally decided that working for the Signpost was more than just editing news copy for a semi-weekly student newspaper, more than just learning the journalistic trade for potential job experience, more than just profiting from a "hands-on" situation, and more than just collecting a tuition waiver and small monthly paycheck. The word Signpost conjures up many meanings, leaving me with some very fond memories of the past school year coursing through my mind. The Signpost is . . . I often think how fortunate I am to have had her as my first editor-in-chief. We've giggled together over Chicken Little and Foxy Loxy, commiserated over sensitive feelings when verbally attacked by irate studentsfaculty who have misunderstood the content of a story, and rolled our eyes in mutual understanding when an "off the street" person demands to have hisher story put in the paper in the next issue, The Signpost is . . . teasing Chris about his bachelor status, his girls, his position as the "chauvinist" managing editor, and reminding him that the word receive is not spelled with the "i" before the "e," The Signpost is . . . enthusiasm in the fan of Ken Hill, a compassionate person who ti'l' cares about his staff and takes the trouble t showil jr The Signpost is . . . admiring Mike Coe and his tenacity to make I consuming activities gel.
