Show 8 Signpost- Monday, May 9, 1988 Orchesis performs to variety of dance movements The Wcbcr State College Department of Performing Arts presents the Orchesis Dance Theatre May 12-14 at 8 p.m. in the Allred Theatre of the Val A. Browning Center. The dance concert will include a variety of works by several choreographers. "Qualities," a piece choreographed by WSC Director of Dance Michcle Rusinko, was inspired by J. Ruth Gendler's book "The Book of Qualities". The dance personifies such diverse qualities as the "wind, imagination and whimsy," Rusinko said. The choreography incorporates the use of sign language to introduce each of the characters. Janice Haws, a member of the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, has been a guest artist with Orchesis Dance Theatre this past year. She choreographed "Jennifer," performed by Michele Rusinko and "In Flight," a piece for nine dancers. Jacque Lynn Bell, a former WSC faculty member, will present a trio featuring three faculty members of the Children's Dance Theatre in Salt Lake City. Faculty member Jeanne Travers-Neumann premiers "Deep in the Ruins," a work about the Anazazi Indians of Chaco Canyon, New Mexico. "The Mold That Broke the One," a piece by Mauria Brough, was first presented in December of 1987. "Because it was so well received," Rusinko said, "we decided to include it in this spring concert."
