Show CENTER STAqE Comedian To Appear Tonight At WSC by Chris Larsen Staff Reporter While walking on campus you may have noticed a certain poster amongst the thousands of election posters. The poster is of Scott Jones. You may think that Jones is a write in candidate for studentbody president and Jones said he would even come back and enroll if elected. But in reality Jones is an entertainer. He is a one-man show and will be presenting his show tonight at 8 p.m. in Promontory Towers. Jones' can be defined as music and comedy. T do what five guvs do." said Jones, T sing, I play the piano, I do a slide show, I play the guitar and I do stand up comedy." Jones tours the country performing at colleges and sometimes as opening acts for groups like Nick Gilder and Michael Murphy. He has been on tour since January in 37 different states. Utah is the last state of Jones' tour. Jones is an accomplished musician who is currently working on his fifth album. Two albums have been half music and half comedy. The other two albums are serious piano music. The album he is currently working on is going to be called Zodiac Suite. The album will have piano solos about the different Zodiac signs. Jones comes from a musical family. His father was an entertainer and he has performed his whole life. He has no gradeur notions of being a big name. His favorite audiences are those with 300 to 500 people or less. . He said that way he gets to meet and know more people. He has played in bands but prefers to solo "because I can do a lot of things that one person can do," said Jones. One of Jones' greates achievements was writing the orchestration Pitt Band To Present Spring Concert The William Pitt Band will present its annual spring concert May 9 in the WSC Browning Center. The concert is free and will begin at 8 p.m. in the Austad Auditorium. The band is sponsored by the WSC department of music, and guest conductors for this concert include Dr. Dar-rell Lund and Richard Bush. Dr. Lund has been involved in concert band music most of his life and recently taught music at Bonneville High School in Ogden. Bush has been a professional musician in Salt Lake City and Ogden and currently owns an instrument repair shop in Ogden. The William Pitt Band is named in honor of Pitt who formed the first marching band in the territory of Utah. The members of the current band are local community members who have an interest in music. The May 9 performance will include selections by Samuel Barber, George Gershwin, Robert Russell Bennett, Charles Ives, Bach, Morton Gould and George Kenny. MMUHtllmiMIIIMMIHMII I IIHMMII !! ! His producer is Steven Greenberg who produced the album for the recorders of the song, Lipps Inc. According to Jones his comedy is a cross between David Letterman and Gallagher. His comedy is real life experiences that he has encountered.Jones grew up in North Dakota. He graduated from a college in Wisconsin in political science and did his alsums in Minnesota. According to Jones growing up in North Dakota wasn't too bad. "No one raped my mother or me on the way to school," said Jones. The concert is free this evening at Promontory Towers. It promises to be a hilarious, funny, and musical night. You'll be able to see the many props Jones uses, including the suckermen.
