And WSC 1 students must be j contributing to the 1 ' increase as evidenc ed by the multicolored parade that takes place each hour between classes. In fact, if the weather keeps up the way it's been going, Utah might want to consider being called "The Umbrella State." Storm upon storm has found its . shadowy way into what should be good, sound, sunshine weather. But this year sunshine has been literally nonexistent and has become a word that few dare to whisper for fear we'll 'go another day without it. Our weather pattern has by-passed any norm that we've been accustomed to. The saying goes "April showers bring May flowers." But whether that be true or false, I just want to ask, "then what does May snow bring?" Well, since we're all a part of this unusual Utah weather, we can answer that question, "May snow brings a lot of frustrated faces from a lot of perturbed people." Now there's one group of people that I really must sympathize with and they are the poor spring athletes. These, athletes have no choice but to go along with what the sky predicts. Of course, spring athletes can always practice indoors, but facilities don't always provide adequate space for their needs especially when it comes to soft-ball, soccer, track or golf. And if practicing indoors becomes an everyday habit, athletes tend to find conditions a Jot tougher when- it comes down to actual outside competitive performance. Besides, athletes don't consider grass swimming a sport. Well, we've all had a pretty grim year thus far, but I don't think we have as much of a right to complain as does the athlete. But through the thick and thin (clouds) of it all, we've got to start looking on the brighter side of things we have to keep our chins up and our heads held high (provided we all have an umbrella handy) because there's always tomorrow and a chance to maybe practice outside. The Weber State men's and women's rodeo teams took first place recently at the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) meet at Idaho State University. Brenda Durfee won the women's all-around title by taking first place in breakaway roping and second place in goat tying. Durfee was also one of the top ten female finalists in barrel racing. Other team members that placed in the Pocatello NIRA were Nina Yamane, who took fourth place in barrel racing, Kyle Kosoff, who won the calf roping, Duane France, who placed fourth in bareback and Chris France, who finished in the top 10 of bareback. Shad Boardman won second place in both bareback and bull riding and won the "Ail-Around" title in leading the men's team to its win. The women's rodeo team also won their second rodeo of the season at a rodeo sponsored by Snow College held at Mt. Pleasant, UT, last weekend. Brenda Durfee was the reserve all-around women's champion. She placed second in the team roping division along with her partner, Bret Layne, of Utah State. Durfee also took third in breakaway roping, fourth in goat tying, and fourth in a go-round of barrel racing. Beverly Thomas won second in barrel racing and' Nina Yamane was in the top ten in barrel racing and goat tying. Scoring points for the men's team was Kyle Kosoff and J. D. Christensen who won team roping. Kosoff and far Real Pit Bar-B-Que Southern Style with western flavor .
