Sports Editor The WSC men's golf team, led by seniors Ian Harper, Todd Erwin and Glenn Bannister, shot a 1-under-par 287 on the final day of competition to run away from the field and successfully defend their title in the Falcon Invitational Golf Tournament held at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Wildcats finished 19 strokes ahead of runner-up New Mexico. This was the third straight year that WSC has won this tournament and the fifth time they have been the victors in the past seven years. Coach Mac Madsen, extremely pleased with the play of his team, said that Weber's sub-par round was the first ever for a golf team at WSC. Weber held a slim 4-stroke lead going into the final round. Coach Madsen said all his players had experience playing the course in the past and could not sense his players putting any added pressure on themselves. He said the experience with the course really helped, and the players put their approach shots in the right position to manipulate the fast greens on the Eisenhower Golf Course. Weber was led by Ian Harper, a senior from British Columbia, . who finished second overall. His scores of 71-78-70 for a 219 total was four shots behind Don Horten, a former US Junior Champ from New Mexico, who shot a 215. Todd Erwin, with rounds of 72- 78-70-220, tied for third. Glenn Bannister shot rounds of 73- 80-71-224 and tied for sixth place. Mats Jon-maker shot 81-71-76 for a 228 and Scott Geroux followed with rounds of 76-76-79 for 231 total. Coach Madsen said he was happy with the play of senior Ian Harper. Harper had a sub-par junior year and didn't accompany the team on any major tournaments. Harper worked hard over the summer and was one of the leading qualifiers going into thistournament. STUDENTS! WRITING TERM PAPERS IS SIMPLE (EVEN FUN) WITH WORD PROCESSING! FACULTY!
