Show sports October 9. page 10 Weber takes on Puget Sound this Saturday When Weber State scheduled to play Puget Sound a while back, the Wildcats figured it would be a good way to loosen up the troops and give the walk-ons some varsity play in reward for the hard work they had put in during practice. Well, ' there's bad news for the walk-ons because the varsity will be fighting for all they're worth this Saturday. The Loggers from UPS will come into Wildcat Stadium with a perfect 5-0-0 record and a number three ranking in the NCAA Division Two poll. Puget Sound is under the guidance of fourth-year head coach Ron Simonson, who has directed his Loggers to an impressive 27-8-0 record over that span... a very strong defensive game, great kick return specialists and a balanced offensive attack are the basic ingredients with which this small Methodist-founded school use to thwart opponents. Defensive, UPS has given up just nine points per game in five outings, with 17 points by Portland State being the most points scored on them. Leading the defensive charge is cat-like nose guard Bob Jackson who, at 6'1", 195 lbs. may be light, but he is extremely quick and strong. Offensively, UPS is similar to Weber State in that they run from multiple sets, but show a balanced attack both on the ground and in the air. The leading rusher for the Loggers last year, fullback Rick Lind- blad, was injured in the first game if the season and is out for the remainder of the year, so UPS has taken to the air more than they had expected. UPS quarterback Kevin Reimer has done a better than average job of leading his team. Reimer has completed 64 of 125 passes for 635 yards and 5 TDs in five games. His favorite receiver Mike Bos has 19 receptions for 356 yards and two scores. UPS leading rusher Ron Bagby has 70 carries for 246 yards and leads the team in scoring with five touchdowns.
