The public is invited to the 1:30 p.m. affair, which is free of charge. "I feel we have had a very good spring practice season and have achieved our objectives," Coach Dick Gwinn said. "We had a lot to learn and a lot of new faces to teach. We made good progress and are really ending on a positive note." In a departure from'past years, the format this year will feature an intersquad controlled scrimmage rather than an alumni game. "We feel we can get a better look at our players and give everyone more opportunity for action in a scrimmage," Coach Gwinn explained. "It will also give us more control over what is happening on the field and will help us in our evaluations." The offense will begin their drives on their own 30-yard line, and game conditions will prevail throughout the scrimmage. The offensive team will score points in the usual manner. The defensive team will also have point-scoring capability. An offensive drive stopped will net the defenders one point, an interception or fumble recovery will be two points. Score will be kept between the two units. A total of 67 athletes began spring drills. That number has been pared to just 52 who will suit up and see action Saturday. Besides the usual number of defections, the Wildcats have been hurt more than usual by injuries. The problem is especially acute on the defensive side of the line, where only twenty players will be available for duty. "We had an excellent spirit during our drills this spring, and we had some very aggressive hitting, but our injuries were mostly of the freak nature. We have five men who are wearing casts on their arms for a variety Sports calendar FRIDAY MAY 21: First day of the Big Sky Conference Track and Field Championships at Flagstaff, Arizona. The Union Jacks had a good chance to pull the game out until Hod Bockwoldt stepped up and knocked a home run to tie the game. From there on out the tide turned as Ralph Parrish knocked in Chris Zimmerman for the winning run. . On the other hand, there was almost a no contest as Reid Germor pitched a shut-out scrimmage afternoon suited up for action Saturday. Another new feature will be a more wide-open offense with a heavy reliance on a passing attack. On the sideline Coach Gwinn has shifted coaching assignments for his assistants which should also reflect in the performance on the field. . 1 f "9 ft ffli? ; , r against TKE.
