Award winning photographers, their awards and category of competition are: John Shupe, honorable mention in creative art photography and an honorable mention in press sports prints. Geof Nesossis, first place in landscape photography, third place in human interest photography and an honorable mention in the unclassified competition. They are the two-year Electronic Technology program, the Electronic Engineering Technology and the Manufacturing Engineering Technology programs, on the baccalaureate level. The accreditation was authorized by the Engineers' Council for Professional Development, New York, which sent an accreditation team to the Weber State campus last March. Dr. Wendell L. Esplin, dean of the School of Technology and Trade-Technical Education, said the two-year program had also been approved during an accreditation study several years ago. yearly college June 30, 1972, has been reported by the development office at Weber State College. This amount represents an increase of $106,360.02 over the previous year, and represents a new high in gifts received from private sources. Included in the development office report are gifts received from alumni foundations, non-alumni individuals and friends, corporations, civic and service clubs and others. Volunteer to work on a student government committee. The executive Cabinet is still looking for interested, capable people to work on committees. Wherever your interests lie there are openings, such as gifts total $266,193.87 and securities, art objects, collections and other gifts valued approximately $91,400 were received by WSC. Several individuals have named Weber State as a beneficiary, either in wills, trusts, or other forms of bequests. While the total of gifts and grants received may be lower than other institutions in the state, it is pointed out the development program at Weber State is in a building phase with few of the college's more recent four-year graduates having reached enough financial maturity to be able to assist appreciably in donations. ws college prof earns doctorate John M. Elzey, veteran Weber State College theater director, has completed requirements for his PhD from the University of Minnesota. In his disseration "Professional Legitimate Theater in St. Paul, Minn., from 1890 to 1918," Dr. Elzey compared theaters in Ogden, Salt Lake City and elsewhere in Utah to the Minnesota theater. A former WSC studentbody president, Dr. Elzey, associate needed Ombudsman, Ecology, Education, Standards, Course Evaluation, Fine Arts Series, Awards and Honors, and Public Relations. All these committees have openings and other commi-tees have openings as well. So run into a member of the Executive Cabinet or the student-body secretary in the Student Activities Center, and make yourself a part of what's happening in student government. Additionally, many alumniare supporting institutions other than Weber State which they attended as a junior college. While Weber's needs for the private dollar are as great, if not greater than other institutions in the state, the college has been largely unsuccessful in attracting sufficient major donors, and foundation giving is noticeably lacking as a result of fewer research pro-'1 grams which normally attract a large portion of private foundation support. Alunni giving of $148,500 ' showed an appreciable gain as a result of annual giving programs recently established. It should be pointed out however, that a significant part of the total was donated by a relatively small number in this category.Student aid, which includes scholarships, loan funds, etc., received $80,000. He received an associate of arts degree from Weber and his bachelor and master of fine arts degrees from University of Utah. Among the shows he directed at Weber are "The Diary of Anne Frank," "South Pacific," "Romeo and Juliet," "Mame," and "The Fantasticks." During the final year of his residency at the University . of Minnesota, he was named outstanding graduate director. He has been guest director of the Utah Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City where he produced "Twelfth Night," and "The Taming of the Shrew." He is currently executive vice president and director of the Commedia Players, a children's theater troupe, which is gaining increasing notice within the state. He is also president-elect of the Rocky Mountain Region of the American Theater Association, which will hold its regional conference on the WSC campus in the fall. donations after alumni giving was service clubs and social organizations, donating $45,500 largely for student aid and scholarships. Hurst, director of college relations, in making the report, expressed his gratitude to the various donor sources for their interest and support, noting that private support has risen from $48,994 in 1966 to $266,193.87 last year. "It is apparent that the state and nation's colleges and universities must turn to private support in the future, even more than they have in the past if our institutions are to keep pace with increased enrollment and technological advancements," he said.
