LITERATURE Ode to Inquietude By Don The long lonely night sinks into infinity as the darkness passes, and the endless tide of the morning sun begins its work on tive parched, dusty earth. This day is like all the rest, it comes, the in-between is nothingness left to reality, and then it goes. The long endless days and the even longer nights share the common goal of wearing my patience thin. As I sit and watch, I wonder if the world is really passing me by. But what can I, an insignificant, accomplish with my toil, my pain, and my loneliness? . It wasn't always like this you know. There were times when happiness abounded, and joy and laughter were my only conscious necessities. But that's all passed now, there's nothing left but discontent. I don't think I'm really feeling sorry for myself, or am I? Well, no matter, anyone in my position has a right to. Anyway, I still have memories carved into blank spaces. John, Susan, and all the rest, they took time to notice. I wonder what became of them? I'll bet they've forgotten all about me by now. But there'll be others to take their place, I hope. r I only wish wait a minute! 2P5 BAMBOO NOODll PAtlOK 2426 GRANT AVE. The familiar low roar of the engine, the tires crunching on the gravel road, and the shouts and squeals from inside? I guess you're right, it wasn't anything at all. It's too soon anyway. The day's almost gone now, the trees cast grotesque shadows on the parched dry earth as the sun continues its journey. At least now it will cool off for a while. Sometimes I wish I could have been something else, instead of a school desk. 3 Forever Forever S a beautifu perfect SIERRA $175 CROWN $450 JUDD J300 C WEDDING RING 50 ALSO $150TO 1975 WEDDING RING 125 o) REGISTERED 3 Keepsake' 01 DIAMOND RINGS C 3 For lasting pride and satisfaction, choose a f 3 Keepsake diamond ring, guaranteed perfect (or 2 replacement assured). If so, this discourse concerns you ; not as a member of the student body, but as an individual concerned with the potential of Weber State College. Upon arrival on this campus, we felt and still do, that this "Institution of Higher Learning" was and still is at a stalemate. Having had the privilege to witness different societies and their constant change, we became disturbed and concerned with the lack of progression within the W.S.C. Society. After discussing this problem with our Student Body President, Tom Welch, and the Editor of Signpost, Mike Parker, we found that both were in agreement with certain facets of our thinking. So now students of W.S.C, THINK! For years now, the students of W.S.C. have been discussing a magnitude of topics concerning their campus ; Smoking . . . Student voice in administrative functions . . . Book store prices . . . "Liberals" on campus . . . "squares" on campus, to name a few. In trying to shorten the communication gap, we decided to create, through this column, a situation by which students and faculty could express their ideas, openly, objectively, and intelligently. If you were one of those 12,000 or so people that at- errs Mdeag tended the Weber vs. Boise game last Saturday, you might have found you lost your identity as you entered the stadium. Being students, we were not able to afford the reserved tickets and it happened, by chance, that the cheering was more united in the reserved section. But we didn't notice too many students sitting there ? But, if you went down to the Union Building for the dance, you might have found yourself engulfed in a united mass of people that had joined together for one purpose, to have fun. Is this "school spirit"? If you are one of the minority that enioys that wonderful habit of smoking, as we do, and has found himself freezing in the midst of those heavenly sent white, ice formations, we do have good news for you. In the new 'section of the Union Building there ,has been set Perfect symbol of the love you share Being with each other, doing things together . . . knowing that your affection is growing into precious and enduring love. Happily, all these cherished moments will be forever symbolized by your diamond engagement ring. If the name, Keepsake, is in the ring and on the tag, you are assured of fine quality and lasting satisfaction. The engagement diamond is flawless, of superb color, and precise modem cut. Are we satisfied? We aren't, but we should be, for we have won a rather large concession in this predominately "Mormon" society. Why not be satisfied with these already won privileges? Let us try to bring our real complaints to a more mature college level! We hope now that we have Stimulated you into thinking.
